What is the ECO4 Scheme?
The Energy Company Obligation is a Government-backed scheme designed to help those in fuel poverty whilst reducing carbon emissions.
If your property is eligible, you could receive free home insulation, heating upgrades or even renewable heating systems to improve the energy efficiency of your home and bring your energy bills down.
The ECO initiative was introduced in 2013 and requires energy suppliers to install energy saving solutions in eligible UK households. Since its introduction, over 3.6 million energy-efficient measures have been installed in over 2.4 million homes across the country.

How Do I Qualify?
Interested in applying for ECO4? There is a variety of factors that can help you determine whether or not your household would qualify, which you can see below. Household Income
ECO4 is designed to help those who need it most, so it is often income based. To qualify, your household income should be under £31k per year, so lower income households are more likely to be eligible.
Property Energy Efficiency
As ECO4 has been designed to benefit those in fuel poverty, it targets those that are less energy efficient. If the EPC of your property is an E or below, you are more likely to qualify. See what your property's EPC is here.
Location
Although ECO4 is widely available across the UK, eligibility can vary dependant on your location and policies of the energy suppliers that are participating in the scheme. Some areas also have additional requirements for certain types of households.
Government Benefits
If you or someone in your home is in receipt of Government benefits such as Universal Credit, Jobseekers Allowance, Income Support, Pension Credit or Tax Credit, you may be eligible. For any benefit related queries, please get in touch.
Property Ownership & Type
ECO4 is available for owner-occupied properties, but it is possible to get funding for privately rented and social housing. If you are a landlord with a portfolio of properties needing energy upgrades, there is no limit on how many we can help with, just get in touch to discuss eligibility.
Existing Installations
Properties with older or outdated systems may have a higher chance of qualifying for funding than those with newer measures already in place, so it is worth checking the age and condition of your heating and insulation to see if you could qualify.
